Homemade Cleaning Products

I'm all about making homemade cleaning products. I make my own bleach cleaner with a squirt of Dawn detergent, bleach and fill the rest of the bottle with water. A friend of mine told me the blend of Dawn and bleach creates toxic fumes. I've never heard this and have never experienced any symptoms of toxic fumes (i.e. fainting, headaches, nausea, etc.) as a result of using my cleaner. Is this true? If it is, does anyone else have a recipe that includes a detergent and bleach that doesn't produce these toxic fumes? Wouldn't a similar reaction occur with laundry detergent (store bought) and bleach?

In very small print on some dishwashing liquids it does state not to mix with Chlorine bleach. Not all brands of dish soap carry this warning, You may just have to shop around and read the labels to find one you can use with bleach to be safer.

If I recall correctly - if you're using bleach, you can just dilute it with water and make a disinfectant. We used it everywhere when I worked in a drop in centre.

I have a recipe I got online using bleach, dawn and water. The poster said to only use Original Dawn with bleach to avoid toxic fumes.
