    I'm not a doctor.

Maybe it's not your sciatic nerve but more of a joint / arthritis issue?
I'm saying this because you indicated you dislocated both hips! Ouch.

I would recommend taking some omega 3 fatty acid supplements for a week see if it helps.

You can get those eating walnuts, flax and flaxseed oil, canola oil, olive oil, and soybean oil.
I don't recommend fish because they typically carry a certain amount of mercury.

If you are going the supplement route.
It's good to take at least a gram of omega 3 on a daily basis.
You should really check with your doctor before doing any higher dose or if you are taking any medication.
    Here are some warnings:
    Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Supplements

If you decide to use a supplement, discuss this treatment with your doctor first to make sure you are getting the benefits you need.
Experts usually recommend 1 gram (1,000 milligrams) of DHA and EPA combined from fish oil daily for those with heart disease. People with certain health conditions may take doses of up to 4 grams a day -- but only under a doctor's supervision.
The most common side effect from fish oil is indigestion and gas. Getting a supplement with an enteric coating might help.
In high doses -- 3 grams and above -- omega-3 supplements (EPA/DHA) can increase the risk of bleeding. People with bleeding conditions -- or who take medicines that could increase bleeding, like Coumadin, Plavix, Brilinta, and some painkillers -- should talk to a doctor before using any omega-3 supplements. Bleeding-related complications are separate effects for EPA and DHA. DHA has not been associated with bleeding problems.

I paid $8 for 400 pills (each 1 gram of omega 3) at our local walgreen last week. It was buy one get one free.

We are making a lifestyle change in our eating habits at home and once the pills will be consumed I will switch to Flax - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia as a source of omega 3.

Thank you I will try it. It looks like back to work for me.

I will try that and also what Gabe suggested. I stand on my feet on concrete floors, for 9 1/2 hours no breaks or lunch, or sitting down. I think I will be taking my week vacation next week.

I'd suggest a "soft touch" chiropractor and/or acupuncture.

I've recently started acupuncture and am amazed at how much it helps. I wish I had tried it years ago.

~I have horrible sciatic pain while pregnant. Yoga helped. Based on your past injury, you should get a professional instructor and not do it alone at home.~

I ruptured a disc 5 weeks ago that left me lying in bed for 11 days...so I know what you are talking about. I also stand up to 12 hours a day on a concrete floor. I use a rubber mat under me while i'm working. But for the pain, I work with an ice pack inside the waistband of my pants and take 2 aleve twice a day. The ice reduces the swelling and helps keep the sciatica under control. I also have heard of inversion and might try it. I'm leaving surgery as my absolute last option, but with half a numb foot, it still has to be a consideration. Try the ice...it really helps!

Those inversion tables are those the ones that you turn upside down. I am going to see what a chiropractor will charge to see me.
I am willing to try anything because I am ready to quit my job.

Here are two of my personal tips as a sciatic pain sufferer:

Don't lean down to pick anything up, bend at the knees and take the weight in your arms, not your back.

Exercises I do to keep my back limber and relieve sciatic pain:

Lay flat and put both feet on a solid surface (I do mine in bed before I get up). Bring one knee to your chest for the count of 10. Lower that leg and bring the other knee to your chest for the count of 10. Repeat. I do 50 "pull-ups" per leg.

Check with your doctor before doing this, though, I'm not a medical professional. Best of luck.

I came down with sciatica. Did a lot of physical therapy and am still doing some of those exercises. Ultimately I had epidurals which were remarkably effective. A friend of mine did all that, had no relief, went with acupuncture and that did it for him.

It is sciatica when it starts in your buttocks and works its way down your leg- that's the classic symptom.

Stretches help me out now when I have twinges.

Unfortunately I have to stand on my feet on concrete floor, (it is the same as standing outside for 9 1/2 hours, only it gets worse.

I have no insurance but I go thru Health Rite and I will see if I can get in to them.
