    Question Yankee Candles

I just lit my first one over the weekend and well it doesn't seem to burn properly. I'm thinking its the wick, its not the right type for the candle as the candle only burns the width of a votive no more and then starts burning downwards. The outer edges aren't even warm to the touch.

    Anyone else experience this?

yes, they do that. There is a little thing they sell you that sits on the top of your jar and helps it burn evenly.

I love their fragrances, but the bigger ones burn worth crap.

It may be the wick length. If it is too long or too short they will not melt evenly. Also, be sure you burn it long enough to melt the wax across each time or you will get that dip where it burns. OR, use a candle warmer... just a few ideas. I love candles.

Are you talking about the jar candles?

That has not been my experience but I haven't bought any for a few years ( still using the ones from then so mine are all old) I leave mine burning for an hour or more and they melt clear to the sides.

When the candle is done there is only a inch or so ring of wax along the bottom. The sides are all clear and wax used up.

Going to go light one now to see how it does.

Yes...thats exactly it Joseph. They smell great but burn very poorly. I returned them all today, even the burned/used one that i kept lighting HOPING it'd burn properly.

The store did take them back & give full refund. I had to fill out a short 'survey' type form. The cashier and I had a discussion about the candles. She agreed with me and said the wicks aren't the right ones for the size of the candles I had purchased. There was also the soft sales pitch and last ditch attempt to have me 'try other candles' and/or the option of buying the decorative cap that helps keeps the heat in that helps burn the candle evenly - but it only fit on the large jar candle - which I did not buy. (not into the tea lights & votives)

She also mentioned that she preferred and secretly recommended Slatkins from Bath & BodyWorks.
