    Default Does anyone coupon?

I was inspired by the show extreme couponing; but always thought it was overwhelming.... I have found it is not!

AND I in no way mean I get 1,000 worth of groceries etc for free....
    cause I don't! I would like that!

but today at 3 stores I should have paid 167.00 and spend 17.00 on all stuff I will use (no garbage involved)! Stocked up on winter aka cold/flue meds, etc.... actually Walgreens paid me 2.87 to shop there :-) got to love that... and Stop & Shop great deals... best was Kellogs cereal 50 cents a box :-) [all printable]... no cutting involved

Any other couponers out there that want to share ideas?

I have actually had to stop couponing and stockpiling all HBA because I have accumulated such a stockpile for free or next to it. Between that and just being busy, my couponing has fallen by the wayside, though I still get the Sunday paper every week. I spent about 20 minutes this morning sorting through coupons and sales ad before I went grocery shopping and it saved me about $40

There's a huge couponing section here where you'll find lots of older threads with tips and ideas.

Also, if you go to the Frugal Village home page (not the forum home) there are links to lists of coupon sites.

Between sales and coupons the last few weeks I've been averaging 50% off my grocery bill. It's not always that good, but I love it when it is.

Been couponing for quite a few years now and usually am at 50% savings for most things I buy. I know what stores to go to for the things that are not hardly ever on sale. I don't think I could shop any other way now.

Have accumulated a good stockpile with coupons. Right now I am using less coupons since I am eating less processed foods and not eating flour or dairy.

It did take me awhile to realize that I could purchase the steam in bag vegetables and not steam them in the bag. I had avoided purchasing them with a coupon because I did not trust the plastic bags when heated up. Then it finally dawned on me that I did not have to heat the vegetables in the bag. I could pour the vegetables into a glass bowl and heat them up in the microwave.

    Default I coupon as well

but not nearly as good as the people on extreme couponing...and in reality i wouldnt want to..I watched a show the other day and they got 150 sauces....my daughter was like they dont need 150 sauces and i had to agree with her and then for the person who had 6-10 coupons and wanted 6-10 sauces they wouldnt be there for them...I think there is need but that show has alot to do with greed. However i would love to be able to see how people can get their bills down like you do....or at least 50%.

I go through phases depending on how much time I have. I mean, it's not like it takes 10 hours, but it does take time. Years ago I worked about 30 hours a week and had no kids and got TONS of stuff.... Now, not so much. I have been so tired lately I can't always find 10 minutes to go through my email let alone put together a shopping list.

Back in the day - anyone remember the Electrosol dishwasher tabs that were on sale at Walmart for $1.87 and there were $2/1 coupons out? I think I was paid to take about 50 boxes... back in 2003 or 2004..

I have found that the best strategy for me is to subscribe to a lot of the "deal" newsletters. They do most of the matching work for you and you can decide if it's worth it to you to do a deal or not. I'd list my favorites but I'm not sure if I'm supposed to.

Like Telephus, I go in phases. As I'm recently back on the frugal wagon (see thread Back on the Wagon ) I'm back to it, right now. I teach with a few couponers and we share coupons amongst ourselves, which is helpful! I used to have a huge stockpile, but haven't been that good in a long time.

i've couponed ever since i moved out of my parents house way back ....geeesh... probably 33 or so yrs ago. i have a good friend at work who shares coupons and get coupons from my mom and the sunday paper. that's plenty most of the time. i absolutely detest the extreme couponing show and think extreme couponing should be against the law. i don't want to offend anyone, but i just feel this way. what about the poor people who don't coupon and are just there to do grocery shopping for their family and the shelf has been wiped out due to an extreme couponer? i live in an area where it costs gas to get to the store and some people can't come in "from the country" multiple times just to go grocery shopping. that once a week or once a month trip is it.
that being said..... i love to use coupons and don't understand why everyone doesn't at least use a few coupons per shopping trip. the way i see it, if you buy one thing a week that has a .50 coupon that is doubled - that's $52 a year for a minute of cutting a coupon out.
like others i go thru phases... i used to use a lot of coupons and then didn't and now am about to go back into using coupons to make a stockpile this next coming year. i mainly use one site that i've been a member of for years and then google anything else or run across deals on the net.
if you or anyone is wanting to trade coupons with someone pm me. my needs are different than most people so i am willing to trade/share coupons.

I'm looking at beginning to coupon. I'm figuring that if I even save $30. per month that will really help with my food bill.

Today I looked at the websites for the stores I frequent and found they all accept online coupons.

But I don't have a printer (I'm a teacher and do all my printing at school.) I would love to print coupons at school but I looked at one site and it said you had to download their coupon printer. I can't do this at school as I don't have the priviledges to download programs.

So does this mean I can't use online coupons unless I buy a printer for home?

Are there other websites that you can simply hit the "print" button?

If I'm not going to be able to use online where can I find coupons as I don't subscribe to a newspaper or any women's magazines?

Any hints would be really appreciated.

As an aside: I'm a vegan so the processed foods I buy are fringe brand organic or natural fake meat and dairy products that I can only find at the health food store.

    Thanks in advance.

Couponmom is a great website which cross references both online and newspaper coupons for a store. Just make sure you purchase a newspaper from a big city. Those newspapers have better coupons.

Is coupon day still on Sunday? I seem to remember that when I was younger that Wednesday was also a big day for coupons in my city's newspaper.
