    Question Kindle Fire

Has anyone gotten a Kindle Fire? If so, what is your opinion of it?

BF got one recently, disappointed to find there were not the same parental controls that an iPad offers. Also, he didn't want it tied to a credit card so he bought a WalMart visa card that you can reload.

After we discussed what my iPad2 had (through work) and what the Kindle Fire had we came to the conclusion that it was half the product for half the price, so its all a matter of what is important/needed by the purchaser.

But that's my own biased opinion after using a regular iPad last year, an iPad2 this year, and discussing the Kindle Fire the BF just purchased, comparing them. And I do mean biased.

Oh, and now he has an iPad2 through work so I'm curious to see how he compares them now that has them side by side.

I'd say ask yourself what you or the person you are giving the device to REALLY wants to do with it. How techy are you or them? A friend of mine just has a regular kindle and is thrilled with it, another friend has a Nook and is thrilled with that. Really depends on what you want, and how much you are willing to spend to get it.

Ahhh toys toys I love my toys. I will miss this job that loans me toys.

Yah, I suck at this money stuff, I know. That's why I'm here.

Thanks for your input. My DS has gotten me one for Christmas. I already have a kindle 3G, so he thought he would upgrade me.

I'm a bit confused on the cc vs Walmart card. Was this to buy it with?

Oh sorry. So he wants the kids to be able to play on it and download things but NOT have unlimited download $ as it would if attached to a credit card. So he bought a Walmart Visa that you can reload. He entered that info into the Kindle. He can put $20 on the specific card, the Kindle would allow the kids to download up to $20 then it would run out. No overdraft, no outrageous amounts on a credit card due to kids not realizing they downloaded a lot of items, etc. Basically no surprises.

I have the kindle next generation.

Love it. Love it! Love it!

I love it for being an EREADER.

My sister has the fire waiting for her at Christmas. My take is the fire is a glorified (but very nice!) ereader with tablet quailities like the nook color.

When I go to get my tablet I will get a true tablet and save my kindle for reading.

Just my take as I have looked into it but do NOT own one.

You can get on amazon and go to the kindle discussion boards and see what the people are saying.
