Default Best time to purchase telephone/answering machine

Well my cordless telephone/answering machine is giving out. Atleast the phone part is. I can still get messages. So am thinking of purchasing a new one. The model I currently have is from CVS and was cheap to begin with.

When do you think the best time is to purchase a new cordless telephone/answering machine. I am not in a hurry since I do have another regular corded phone I can use. Was thinking I probably should wait until Fathers Day.

Would like to hear other peoples ideas for the best time to purchase one.

Do you need new? There's usually a surplus of them at the Goodwill and Habitat Restore shops. I'd hit them up first.

Electric Usage Challenge (doing well, under $70 most months)

Yah, I suck at this money stuff, I know. That's why I'm here.

That is what I was going to say too...........our thrift shops always have gobs of them..........especially since lots of people are giving up their land lines...........

I can't imagine there is a "season" for telephones. I would just determine if you want used or new, what features you want, and then locate the cheapest place you can find.

I see them at thrift stores too, but the one I have now is a refurb that I bought from overstock.com . It's great - works great. The one I bought new pooped out after just a few months and of course I had lost the receipt, otherwise would have returned. I got this one instead and into its second year of service with no problems. tigerdirect.com also carries refurbs and I have bought other types of products from them, also very good.
