Baking With Freeze Dried Strawberries?
Has anyone used/tried freeze dried strawberries in their baking? If so, how did you do it and how did it turn out? Pro's / Con's of using them vs fresh strawberries? Less moisture, more intense flavour?
Any tips / suggestions?2012: The Year Of The Purge!

Libby,
My only experience using freeze dried strawberries is in crockpot steel cut oats. That being said, I would think that rehydrating them and baking with them would be fine. I can tell you they will not be as firm as fresh, but will be just as flavorful.

I bake with dried cherries all the time. Oh you said freeze-dried. Hmmm, not sure about those, I agree with savvy, I might rehydrate them a bit first. I think they would be great.

Maybe I'm thinking of 'dried' strawberries? Ive seen them at the bulk store and wondered how they'd turn out if I just added them to my baking w/o reconstituting them.
What kind of strawberries are in cereal - dried or freeze dried?

You could probably just add dried to your baking recipes. Freeze dried is VERY light and practically turns to dust.
