    Default Way to refill smart water filter?

    I have a GE frig and it takes the smart water filter that costs aorund $30 plus. Does anybody know a way to open one and refill the filter part with carbon? I know a great deal about filtration and what to use already. I don't want to spend that much money every 6 months to filter the water.

    I can't answer that question; BUT I can tell you to search on eBay and if you are patient you can generally buy several at a time (2-6) for about half that price. I used to buy them for my mom's fridge, I have bought them for my MIL's, and I have bought them for mine.
