Default What size to buy for next year's summer clothes?

I'm new to the frugal lifestyle, but I'm jumping in with both feet.

I'm going to hit the clearance racks for the warm weather back-to-school clothes for my dd. We have warm weather here until mid-October. While I'm there I also want to get some stuff for next spring/summer.

How do you figure out what size clothes to buy for next year?

My 5yo dd just had a growth spurt, and is in size 6 now. I was thinking 8 and 10 for next year. Does that sound right?

    Thanks,

    Nancy

Not sure about a girl, but around that time my DS didn't have too many huge growth spurts and would've gone into the 8 the following summer. BUT the 10's are a good investment if they are T shirts or stuff that can also be used year round. So, yes an 8 or a 10 I think would be about right. JMHO

My dd is 7 yrs. old and wears a size 7 now. She can wear summer clothes year around here, so I buy almost everything on clearance. I get one size larger for the next year.

Thanks. I think I'll focus on the 8's, with a couple outfits each of 7's and 10's. I'm going to keep track of what I get too so I don't over-buy.

My youngest DD...My goodness....She wore a size 6 slim since 2 years ago and is just now in size 7's, I just switched her this year at age 7. Next year, I bet she will still be in size 7, possibly 8 but I dunno since she is very petite. I plan on stocking up on clearance stuff for next year, but only Tshirts and a couple shorts in size 8, just in case she is still in 7's. I will be stocking up on 7's in Tshirts, since she will be wearing those all winter along with her long sleeves. Last winter was very mild, so she can get away with it this year, no doubt. I will probably get her long jeans from Ebay for school, since they are expensive and she doesn't mind, being so young. If I give it to her and tell her it's new, she thinks it is. And any clothes that are given to her, they are new to her so she doesn't care.
