Default What's your best frugal find?

A couple of years ago I worked at Kohl's department store. Kohl's often has sales up to 80% off. One day the manager came and asked me if I needed jeans for my boys because she was about to put them on the floor. With my employee discount and the 80% off, I was able to get Lee jeans for (drum roll please) .11 cents each! I bought enough to last them 2 years.

Possibly the one item that sticks out the most in my head, is a few years back when I worked at KMart. They had a computer desk go on clearance from like $300, to $20. I still have it, and love it! It has a drawer with filing cabinet, plus a hutch with bookshelf on top.

More recently, I got a shopping cart cover at Goodwill for $1. I brought it to clerk and asked for price, and they were like "what IS that??" and I told them, and they still didn't know how to price it, so they said a buck!

I also like getting clothes for 95% off when Belk and JC Penneys have sales, can get clothing for $2 a piece if you shop right. Makes it much cheaper than even Walmart or Goodwill.

I asked and he said, "You!"

In general though, I'd have to say my best frugal find was a copy of the Complete Tightwad Gazette at a yard sale one day for $1.00. It's since paid for itself in so many ways I can't even count them all!

I found hamburger marked wrong at Gerbes one time. I only paid 9 cents a pound! I bought every bit of it.

30 boxes of Quaker Simple Harvest oatmeal for free. (original price $4.99/box, it's the good multigrain stuff)

(10 for $10 sale, had $1/1 coupons for it. SCORE!)

I also work at Kohl's, and I get fabulous deals all the time. I got Nike shoes that had missed markdowns several times, and after my employee discount I got them for $2.17! I bought a pair for me and a pair for my sister. I could have bought more, but I wanted to save some for some other lucky soul.

A Kohler sofa and chair for free. Stopped by a garage sale and they wanted $200 for them. We walked away. At the time we lived in a small town. Next week a moving truck pulls up out front. The guy from the garage sale gets out of the vehicle behind and asks us if we want it for free! They were downsizing and he didn't want to take it with them. We said yes! We had it 17 years and just this last Christmas cut it up and threw it in the garbage. The thrift store wouldn't take it, it was too ratty for them. Go figure!

I know, totally Jenn! I was just going to say, I've only been couponing for like 3 weeks! lol Give me a couple of years and we'll see what I can get.

Seriously, there are ladies we talk to every day who get like 10390980392 items with the store owing them money. It's wild.
