Default Question about Walgreen's Rebate Program

I'm fairly new to shopping at Walgreens. We went today and got a couple of items, including a Garnier Fructis that is free after rebate. I got an EasySaver Catalog, and it lists other things free after rebate. My question is, can you purchase these items throughout the month, or only when they are listed in the sales ad?

If they're listed Free After Rebate, then they're free as long as purchased within the dates listed on the catalog (AND you remember to send in the rebate). Also, periodically, there are items that, when purchased during a specific week when they're on sale come out to be free. These aren't rebates that are listed as free, but as "up to $8.99" or whatever price.

Any time within the dates on the catalog.

Extra advice: try to use manufacturer's coupons to purchase the FAR (free after rebate) items. You'll come out ahead!

That's what I was thinking, but I didn't know if Walgreens would only rebate the retail minus coupon. Thanks!!

Walgreens has always given me the full rebate price not counting any coupons.

That's awesome, thanks for the information! I'll probably ask my husband for $20 or so, to pick up the rest of the FAR items, and also a $5 gift card so that my rebate (plus 10%) can be put right on it. I've already found and located coupons for a lot of the items. Yay!!

My biggest hint on this one (Rite Aid as well) is to only buy the FAR items that you will use.... no reason for me to buy the contact lens solution as I don't wear contacts, nor do I know anyone that does.

Some people still buy this stuff to pass along to friends and family or shelters, what have you, I don't as a general rule, but what angers me is when I see this stuff starting to clutter up my linen closet, I really don't need another tube of icy hot, reguardless if it was free or not.... KWIM?

Of course YMMV, so if you think you can use it, go for it, but also don't get into the trap of just because it's free you need to get it.

    My .02 cents

Maybe I am misunderstanding your post, so forgive me if I am. You do not need to purchase a gift card. just check the box on your first monthly rebate submission and they will send you one with your rebate on it. Then you can use it for future rebates. No need to spend the $5.

Oh, I know. But wouldn't it be a little quicker to have a gift card number handy, to fill on the form? It should be faster than waiting the extra 3-5 days on it to arrive in the mail?

It would be faster to buy a gift card, but it won't work. Walgreens must issue you the first card. They connect the card to your name and address. Also it may take a while to get the rebate. My first one took 5-6 weeks. I had submit a second rebate before I got the first. So now I have two cards.
I hope this helps. I am also new at this.
