What %age of your income do you spend on groceries?
I was talking to my sister the other day, and she told me in Europe the average family spends 40% of their income on groceries, and in the U.S. and Canada, it's more like 15-20%. We just won't tolerate paying more than that for food.
Is that the case with you? What percentage of take home pay actually goes to groceries?
I know for us groceries represent 11% of our take home pay. So we are less than average. What about you?

a little over 13% per month if I calculated correctly. That does not include extra buying for holidays which probably comes to another 300 or so per year

I just figured it: 6.5 percent, for a typical, average month.
This includes everything: food, pet, hba, paper......everything

2-4% of take home pay. DBF makes up for that, though. He's not very frugal (he's learning, though)

just ran a Quicken report for last year, we spent 3.55% of take home. 40% seems HUGE!! How do they afford anything else?

18.2%
But thats mostly from fs and wic so technically what we actually pay for groceries ect is a small amount of that. We have been back stocking with what we get.

I love to cook, and can be very impulsive. So, I am at about a shameful 25%. But, that includes laundry detergent, shampoo, etc.
