    Default Question!!!

Hey guys! I've got a question about hospital stays... My DH has been in the hosp. since Tuesday night/Wed morning (took him to 3 diff eme rooms ~Baptist was at least a 6 hr wait, Deconess was AT least a 2 hr wait probably longer, & the hosp. he's at now took less than an hour ... he'd been violently throwing up & having diahr. couldn't keep anything down etc ... we thought it was a virus at first xcept that it had started with horrific pains in his belly) & I'm trying to figure out the best course on how to do this with the best of care for him but at the same time trying to figure out a way to do this as cheaply as possible. The admitting ER doc had xrays & a ran a catscan & decided that DH has an obstructed bowel, the doc on the floor didn't think he did have an obstr. bowel (& he figured this out all on his own w/o even looking at DH's chart, xrays, or catscan ~ didn't look at ANYTHING! Just "diagnosed" DH w/gastronitis? the virus... w/o explaining how he came to this "knowledge" ) so we "fired" the doc on the floor & called in a specialist (gastrintologist or whatever they are called) that has worked with other family members & now are waiting to have the specialist come look at DH... ANY helpful info would be greatly appreciated! I'll be home for a few hrs to some of DH's laundry before I go back up to see him, but I'd really like to hear from ya'll! Thanks for listening & for any kind of feedback!

    Kim,

Sounds like you are doing things well to me, I would suggest that you get a copy of his entire file when checking him out of the hospital......(be pro active). Also you may want to check with your insurance as soon as possible to get all the ducks lined up so you don't have any surprises later on.

Also, you might want to ask to speak to a specialist that can give you diet idea's for DH, (I know most guys like to eat alot of meat and don't like to take their vitamins). Maybe hearing what he should be doing from someone besides you will help him later on when he is feeling better.

I know you are worried about your DH, take care of yourself also......try to not get to stressed out.

I will be sending good thoughts your way!

    Kind Regards,
    leezza

Be sure to have him checked for diventriculosis (s). A friendof mine has this and it started the same way. She can't eat nuts or seeds. Peppers and corn are pretty much out too. Along with alot of other things she really liked. Just a suggestion. Hope things get better soon.

My DH just went through this in September. He had a Meckles' Diverticulitum that had to be removed. They thought his bowel was completely obstructed, but it actually wasn't. Good luck with this. My DH has made a complete recovery. Warning: if this is what your DH has, he will be off of work for about six weeks while he heals up. Time for black belt tightwaddery!

    Default Food Poisoning

Could it food poisoning ? I know it sounds pretty simple - but I have heard some folks with the same symptoms and it does last for 2 days. Whatever it is - I hope it gets better soon!
