What do you all do about printer ink?
I know there has to be a more frugal way then spending the ridiculous amount it costs to buy new cartridges. Do you refill them or get new cartridges at a discount somewhere?

We tried refilling our laser printer cartridge last year from a popular refill company, but weren't happy with the results. I just try to watch for sales now.

We get ours refilled at Walgreens - they had a free refill day a few months ago, and a few weeks ago it was $5 (sale price). Regular price is $10 for black ink and $15 for colored; it's usually ready within a few minutes!

I have 2 places that sell my ink at a discount. One store refills for pretty much 'all' cartridges but his don't seem to last long. Walmart doesn't even sell my ink in new cartridges anymore because my printer is so old but when they did, it was $25.00 for black and $38.00 for color.
I go to a computer sales/repair guy who got out of the 'supply' business years ago but still keeps about 8 different kinds of ink for certain printers for 'special long time customers' and I just happen to be one of them, lol. I pay $8.00 for black ink and $10.00 for color and just regular day to day printing that will last me about 3 months but if I start printing quilt patterns and instructions for crafts then I run through it faster.
I am saving lots by clicking on "Properties" everytime I print and changing my printing to 'black only' for just paperwork.
I didn't realize Walgreens had an ink program. Thanks! I'll check it out.

I get mine done at Walgreens. I think it's pretty decent for the price - and it's a HUGE savings if you go through a lot of ink!

I refill my own but you can only do it a few times. There's nobody around here that refills cartridges for you. The refill kit for mine is about 20 dollars and has enough ink for 3 or 4 fill ups.

I don't print. That saves a lot!
It took me a looooong time to realize that I don't really need to print things. I do realize that there are some activities that might require it, such as scrapbooking. I just keep those sorts of things digital.

Refills didn't work for us. So I shop around for the best price -- usually ends up being online.

I watch for sales both offline & online. Just got a 2 pack of black ink for my HP printer that only cost me $17.99 including shipping. Usually I pay $27 for one. This was through buy.com,, I think the sale is over now though.
