Anybody have advice for buying a convection or toaster oven
I am trying to go microwave free and would like to find something to use in place of a microwave. I have been told convection ovens and toaster ovens are great. anybody have any advice for purchasing one?

I have a Delonghi convection toaster oven that has a rotissery also. While I haven't used the rotissery, the toaster oven and convection oven functions work great. It's large enough to put a small pyrex pan in it. I bought it at Sam's club a couple of years ago and paid just under $100.
I use it mostly for the oven part if I baking something small. It uses less electricity than the full size oven.Birdie

I second the Delonghi. My Mom has one too and swears by it. Seems to be one of the better brands.

I forgot to mention. Don't buy an inexpensive Black and Decker toaster oven. I've had 3 of them and the toast button breaks. They would not keep replacing them even thought it apparently is a design flaw.

I have a toaster/convection oven (Hamilton Beach) that I bought at Costco three years ago. It also has the rotisserie (used once). I've also used the convection function only once. I paid less than $60.00 for it. I use it for most things...chicken, roasts, etc. I only put the really big stuff in my big oven (pizzas, etc.). I also bake cookies in my big oven because I figure the extra time it takes me to run the smaller (and extra) batches through the smaller oven probably uses as much, if not more, electricity than being able to use my big baking sheets (and larger batches) in the big oven.
I also have a small "toaster oven" for the smallest of items....toast, refrigerator biscuits, etc. Whatever I can fit in it. I bought this at Goodwill.
It all depends on my needs at the moment, but I always figure the smaller the area to heat, the less electricity it's going to take.

andrea check out home depot ( you can check online) at maytags convection oven, they have one for 699 ( not stainless steel) with a smooth top and
hidden oven burners ( easy to clean)
I widsh I could post the link but I dont know how.
I wish I could post an icon for my profile too but dont know to do that either.
For tabletop convection oven/ toaster oven... costco has a nice one for about 75 dollars. The brand is OSTER. I have one ( an older model) and have been using it for awhile, its nice but small, not good for cookies or anything really.. but toast
