Default A Homemade Cleaner For bronze?

DH brought home a very large bronze statue from his mom's antique and reproduction shop and it has been sitting for about 5 years now with no TLC. As a result, it is dusty and turning white and blue in spots. Does anyone know of a homemade cleaner I can use on bronze? I won't pay the small fortune they want for those ready made cleaners. Thanks in advance!

I don't have any suggestions but just wanted to say that I love the patina that bronze and brass gets from being exposed to the elements. If you find a homemade recipe please post it.

What's the bronze of? We have a nice one called 'Buffalo Hunter'. Gripey bought it at auction and almost had to have a forklift to get it in the house......lol.

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~

*We're debt freeeeeeeee! (including the house)*

    Hi Lisa,
I found a recipe online and it is one cup of white vinegar, 1 teaspoon of salt and enough flour added to make it into a paste. Rub this on with a clean cotton cloth and let it dry. Then rub it off and use a soft dry brush as well for those hard to reach areas. Dh is doing this now. It is a Frederic Remington bronze statue of an indian on a horse, almost 27 inches tall. Is your's a Remington? LOL......I know they are so heavy. Dh is going back this summer to get some more. His mom is 82 now and closing shop.

Here is a link with a picture of the statue. Think I would know an indian from a mountain man:surprise:
