How are you saving on gas?
Just wondering with the high and crazy gas prices how are you conserving gas? I have been trying to combine as many trips as possible.
We have gas coupons here, every bit helps but wish there were other discounts offered.

I'm trying to only take my Van out once a week, on that day, I go food shopping, go to the bank, dollar store, anything else I need to do, I've been doing this on fridays but I think I'll change to saturdays so maybe I can hit a yard sale here and there now thats its spring. It's not easy, but I'm coping ok, I will have to make one trip to a super walmart sometime this summer, as I usually go there twice a year.

I don't let dh take the car to his classes anymore, he rides his motorcycle. I do all my errands when I drop dd at school. And I don't go to see my parents as much as I would like to.

Doing errands on the way home from work when I have to and staying in on weekends. I also use the phone and blogs to keep in contact with family and friends more rather than visiting.

Driving more conservatively helps tremondously. I'm getting 28 mpg in a minivan rated at about 17 (combined). Until I get some sort of windfall, I can't afford any other means of transport!

I am saving a ton of money on gas. My transmission went. LOL! I hit the jackpot though. My van is a 2001 Ford Windstar. I was going to take it into the gas station for my mechanic to take a look at it. I thought to myself there is no way that it could still be under warranty but I figured let me try. I called Ford and asked and they said it IS!. I have to either 7/08 or 76,000 miles on it (I have 72,000). What must have happened is I took over someone's lease in 2002 and then bought the car when the lease was up. At that time, I must have taken out an extended warranty. I honestly don't remember. But talk about luck. A $3,500 saving!!!

I don't do anything to save on gas, but then again I drive Toyota Corolla, which gives me about 27 MPG. I guess fuel efficiency is my way of saving.

I can't save on gas. I already can't afford to go anywhere on weekends. I am commute a hour and a half each way to work. I am spending $35 a day on gas. I don't know how much longer I will be able to afford to commute and keep my home!

Well my original plan was to visit my Mom in assisted living twice a week or maybe once a week if all was well. That is a 36 mile round trip and then try to tend to other things on that side of town while over there. That plan is shot as she had to go to the hospital then onto rehab in a nursing home!! Why is it some people just don't understand when you say "I can't afford the drive from point a to point b!!" Am I the only paying over $3.30 at the pump right now?? I should probably say I don't want to afford it - same thing though. I have a newer Odyssey, so trying to depend on the variable cylinder thingy!

We live in a fairly small town but we do have a couple of grocery stores and 1 Walmart here. We used to drive about 35 minutes into a big town to see movies, go to the book store, sight see, but now we stay around here. Once we get home we stay home......no more getting into the car, driving to the store to get milk or anything else.

We're trying very hard to drive as least as possible.
Consolidating errands.
Keeping the car in the garage.

Well, I've considered a few options, but haven't really done anything yet. Our prices are at $3.74 right now. I budget $500 a month for gas, but so far we fall below that. Hubby drives a gas hog, but he'll be on vacation for a couple weeks, and that right there will save a ton! He drives 55 miles each way, every other day.

Picking routes with less traffic. Combining trips. Not going out unless I have too.

try to do errands on the way home from work. Try not to run around too much on the weekends. $45 for a tank of gas is not making me happy. I can usually get 10 days out of one tank I have to drive to work 4 days a week and that is 42 miles round trip so not much I can do about that.
