Default How do you use vinegar and baking soda to clean?

I see this over and over that people use vinegar and baking soda to clean. Do you combine the two and use it like that for cleaning sinks, toilets, etc? How exactly do you make and then use homemade cleaning agents?

I use baking soda to clean tubs, counter tops and the oven. Also as a deordorizer on rugs and the dog area of the yard.

I use them, and I love how they work. I just mix vinegar and water, with a little pretty smelling oil and I pour it into an old rubbermade bowl with a lid. Then I stick five-ish wash cloths in the solution, and I have cheap-o lysol wipes.

I mix vinegar and water in a spray bottle. (I still add pretty smelling oils) and I use that as a regular spray.

I use baking soda in the tub, toilets, sinks, top of stove.

You use the baking soda as scouring powder and vinegar like you would any other spray cleaner Most of the time I don't even dilute the vinegar.

The only thing to remember about using vinegar (ask me how I know this) is not to use it to clean things like cabinet doors. After a while it actually eats the finish off. I have newly finished doors b/c of my frugal cleaning......

    vinegar is an all-purpose cleaner.
be it for glass (windows/mirrors or glass stove tops), cuts through grease, gets stains off counter tops... you name it!

baking soda is awesome as a "scrubber" - like others mentioned for tubs, toilets, sinks etc.

it's a great way to get rid of odor in kitchen sinks too!

just remember... a little goes a long way of most natural 'chemicals'.
    so dilute vinegar some.

otherwise, i use all the natural stuff possible and it works great!
unless i'm being lazy, you'll find more baking soda, vinegar, rubbing alcohol, etc... in my house than commercial products any day!

Biggest thing I use vinegar cleaning wise is straight out of the jug (rinsing sponge often) for wiping down my counters & canisters to repel ants. Works great for us.

Baking soda goes in the washing machine and the kitchen sink to make them both smell nice & clean.

I use vinegar to kill weed's that come up in the crack's on the sidewalk, you have to use it full strength and make sure you put the vinegar where you want it, otherwise if it sprays out onto the other grass, it will kill that also.

I actually use vinegar when I wash the laundry. I use a smaller amount of detergent, add in the vinegar ontop of that and wash my clothes. I initially started using it to clean the urine out of DS #1's sheets/clothes (he has problems with wetting the bed sometimes) but now it's a constant. I also use it in a spray bottle with half water to spray ontop of urine stains. Sprinkle some baking soda on that and let it dry completely, then vacuum up.

I also do the vinegar/baking soda thing in my drains, plus I use vinegar to clean out my coffee pot.

All I use to clean my entire house is white vinegar and water half and half (for stubern stains I use full force) I also have a local lady that sells essential oils and she has a cleaning one which includes lemon, orange and tea tree oil. I add a few drops of this to my half/half solution and put in a spray bottle and use this to clean everything. Works great on windows and mirrors....No streaks!

I put vinegar in a spray bottle with water in a ratio of 2:1. I spray it on just about everything to clean. I also use baking soda in conjunction with vinegar to scrub the bathtub & shower stall as well as on my carpet before vacuuming (as a deodorizer).

I do the volcano thing with the vinegar and baking soda in my disposal.

I mix vinegar with baking soda and ammonia to clean the bathrooms.

If I need a little more abrasive I will use salt.

I use vinegar in the laundery sometimes for tough smells.

I sprinkle baking soda on carpet, rub in, and vacuum for pet odors.

I mix vinegar and water mixture in a bottle to clean windows, chrome in bathroom and to spray the shower down when someone is finished, to spray counter tops when done in kitchen.
I sprinkle baking soda on carpets in bedrooms and let sit for about an hour and then vaccum. When cleaning my oven with burnt stains I spray the vinegar then sprinkle baking soda on top and leave over night. In morning I use hot water and wipe up.
I do the drain thing also as mentioned above. I think I said this before but I use vinegar as an astringent to clean my face and then Vitamen E cream. If you have a sunburn vinegar is good to put on a soft cloth and then apply to sunburned area and it will take the heat out. It does sting for the first few seconds but then you don't notice it.
