i saw one , now to just figure it out.lol
a lady had a diaperbag, it was made out of rag patches, like the ones made fo r rag quilts. fabric for the sides, zipper in the top. i think it was 4 high and 4 long. handles were made the same way, not blocks, but sewn in a strip with hems out. anyone seen one?

I saw the one without the zipper... and they look so cute. If you need a pattern, I am sure there are enough of us that can come up with something

i have made those. they are simple to make. you just have to figure out how big you want it, and then make a square template like you would for a quilt.
then make sure you allow for seam allowance.
you also need to know how wide you want it to open and all that.
if you want some help, let me know.

never thought about how wide to have it open. hmmm to do that do you make the strip wider inbetween the blocks.?

What I would recommend this.
Let's say you find a pattern you like. It requires 1 yard of fabric. Hypothetical.
For the strips that are sewn with the seams out..... just sew a bunch of strips together WRONG sides together until you've reached the size of 36 " x 45" (the width and length of the fabric you need) and cut out from there.
Fluff up the seams with a wire brush.
Another idea will be similar to paper piecing where you sew your fabric onto paper in a design that is drawn. Except! you'd used muslin (did you know that is how they did it in the old days?) and you'd sew your strips onto the muslin. You'd only have one seam showing since you're overlapping.
The good thing about this is... you can sew strips that aren't in a straight line- if that's the style you prefer.
Here's a shot of what rag quilting is.

If you wanted it in a stripe format- all you have to do is sew strips instead of squares.
