~I like the bold colors of the quilt too, Jean! I agree with Deb, the border fabric clashes. The colors remind me of tribal colors so I think I'd border it in gold or red.~

~Well, I haven't done any quilting yet this month because I've just been too busy getting ready for school. It's been bumming me out.
I finally have time this week so I hope to piece the baby quilt.
Joann's is having a good sale on batting right now if anyone needs some! I just ordered 2 twins and one crib, cotton, for $25. ~

Ugh...I've had the fabric to make this quilt for my friends new baby all summer. I just haven't had a chance to get it done. Okay, I've had the chance. Just haven't done it. Need to!

Love the quilt, but I agree that the border does not flow with the rest. Don't know what width you are thinking of, perhaps a narrower one would let the boldness of the quilt design be more prominent.

You don't have to use the flannel backing. the flannel will give more raggy look to the front and make the back softer.....but it's more to sew through . I'm going without a backing and maybe a 3/4 inch seam and let the jeans be the frayed look.

Got a bag full of jeans waiting in the make me into a quilt line.

I love the quilt colors I would go with a gold or green border something simple IMHO

I loved the baby quilt also, got a bunch of jeans to start cutting into squares decided to use flannel or fleece and no batting I think the jeans will be heavy enough plan on using with a flannel sheet set.

    Militlady: that's a lovely quilt!

I decided to buy some gold flannel. I took the quilt top to the store and was auditioning fabrics when another quilter came up...someone I didn't know...and started talking to me. I told her my predicament and right away she picked the gold over the navy (I found one with gold and red flowers in it). So that's what I'm going with. It's in the wash now.

I cut more pieces for more blocks for the kimono quilt for DD#1.

Sewed the sampler quilt top together today...except for the border...which I can't find anywhere. Need to wait till quilting cotton goes on sale again.

I called my sisters and told them to save the kids jeans so I can make quilts for all the kids with their own old jeans and hopefully I will be able to give them quilts next year for their Christmas gifts. Works really well for me and it won't cost me more than a few bucks. If I don't get enough fabric from them to complete the quilts then I will hunt the yard sales to be sure I have enough fabric.

    militlady,

What a great idea! My Sister has done that. She also made them drapes out of the same demin squares, she just lined it with an old sheet and did not fill it. The room was beautiful. I'm sure the kids are going to love their new quilts.
