FF: you raise a good point. I thought the green kimono looked a little funny too. But with DD#1's apartment being decorated in brown, mushroom and green, I thought I should keep them in. I don't have to though. I have others that are more tan/red/gold that I could substitute...hmmm....

Peanut...it is really hard to tell with just looking at them with a computer monitor.....that is why I asked about others. But it popped right out at me when I looked at the partial board pic.......then went back down to the full board and thought that if I walked into the room and 'glanced' at it.....would it do the same?
I can't tell what the true colors are in the design.........the others all look like they have 'some shade' of the browns, etc.......even the one in the corner with the purple, and the two that look alike but not much design (one is third row from bottom--the other is in third row down)......but couldn't see what those two had in them.
Soooooo....just asking. It is tough to tell on here......and also a little tough to try to give some sort of feedback.......but I know I would want it......
It took me FOREVER to pick the fabrics for the heart bargello......I would walk out of the room and when I went back in again I would see what 'jumped' out at me......change that......do it again......even got one of those 'view things'......which helped a lot for this. It drove me nuts. Had it all lying out on the floor for more MONTHS than I care to remember!

FF - you are certainly tenacious in your crafting!! Sign of true perfection!!
I was going to try to bring some quilting to Kauai this weekend, but think instead I am going to try the dishcloth pattern that DC shared out of my red, white and blue cotton.
Time to get ready for bed. Night all!!Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

I should get in on this one, if I have time. I found an old quilt top at a thrift store some time ago and I wanted to get it on a blanket for awhile. I'll have to see if I can dig it out.

I wish I could find an old quilt top at the thrift store Nada Leona! I would LOVE that. Can't wait to see pics when you are done!

Okay...I took out the green blocks. I tried to rearrange in a more structured fashion...light in the center and dark on the edges. I ran out of dark, so I tried to balance the light on the edge. Hmmm...not sure I like this any better. What do the rest of you think?

I just messed with a few of the blocks...How's this?

Sigh...I could be playing with these blocks all day... I think I'll just start adding the sashing and then lay them on the floor or the bed and see how they look...

~I thought your original selection of blocks and arrangement was very nice!(darks sprinkled throughout)
It seems like there's an awful lot of khaki now. The light blocks in the center kinda makes the whole quilt look blah to me.

peanut I like the second pic better of these two........and not sure which I like when compared with the other 'orig'.......
It is going to be really hard to tell until we have the sashing separating them.....could give it a whole diff. appearance........the black might be doing some weird things to it......good or bad.....When you get the sashing going I might like the orig. better.........
Oh...this is just too funny.......I just want to reach right in here and move this and that to experiment. GEES PEANUT........will you just sew it up!!

would someone please push me into my sewing room? I just don't have the motivation to sew and there's so much that needs to be done. I'm stuck in a reading/ knitting mood.

FF you just crack me up. Now you just get going on your own project! Keep your hands off mine!
I actually went back to the original blocks and organization...but...I dropped the two blocks that read as a solid off white/tan. They kind of killed the quilt. I kept the green blocks because they were the ones that livened up the top...the "poison" as we say in rug hooking. You always want a bit of poison in a rug...or any piece of work...to bring it alive. I may change their location though...so both are more central in the quilt.
Yes, it does look a lot different with the sashing. That really breaks things up. The green blocks don't stand out quite so much with it.
Now get quilting everyone! I want to see pictures of your quilts!2012 Challenges

~I know how you feel, Vicki. I just force myself to sit down and do something.
Today I joined two more rows and sashings to the two already joined in my t-quilt. Two more sashings and rows to go before I can sandwich this baby. It should only take an hour.
I gotta get this done this weekend so I can move on to other projects.~~Constance

Need help here
Ok, now I have a project for you.
Here is a quilt my aunt made for me. She picked the quilt she would make and I gave her the fabric BUT I didn't have enough for the binding!
She gave me back the scraps and I am going to try to piece it all (straight across piecing to save fabric, no slant) to make a double 2 inch binding.......scrappy type, of the fabrics on the front.
I have a pic showing what is on the back. My question to you is: ... IF I end up with a worse case scenario, would the backing fabric look really bad if I had to use it for the binding........it is NO WHERE else on the front of the quilt.......which I don't like, but may have no choice, if I can't get enough when the other is pieced.
TRUTH please...........what do you think?

~I think it will look fine as long as it's in the brown family(it looks brown on my monitor).
