    Default September 2009 Quilting Club

The Holiday Season is Coming Soon
and for Quilters We Need to Get Ready!!

Please join us this September to Share
What You Are or Want to Quilt for the Holidays!!

I have selfiishly chosen getting ready for the holidays as this month's quilting focus. My reasoning is that if I prepare earlier, I'll be able to do more of the things that I want to.

What are you quilting for the holidays?

What would you be quilting if you had all the time/money in the world?
Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

Good idea MM! Getting ready for the holidays! Ooooh, I can't wait! I LOVE Christmas. I am not hoping to finish much before Christmas as I am too busy getting stock ready for the craft fair but I really want to try and finish a set of pillows for my couch. Quilted of course.

Sounds like a great idea to me DC. What date is your craft fair?

I'm going to be making stockings for everyone in my classroom. So far that is 10 students and four adults. For the adults at least I am going to be making patchwork stockings, so that's the first of my quilting holiday projects.

I need to do this. I didn't get any quilting done in August. I put my cutting mat out on my kitchen counter and got all my fabric out, so now when I have a few minutes I can cut strips. I want to make 3 quilts for christmas and I would like them to be done by the end of October. 2 of them are just Rail Fence ones so they should go fairly quickly once I get all of the strips cut! Did I mention cutting is my least favorite part? LOL

How sweet of you MM for making your students and co-workers stockings for Christmas! Are all the freebies you have been saving going in these stockings? You are such a sweetie!

Actually DC - the freebies are for the family stockings that I stuff. Will have to have a whole new frugal attack for the preschool ones - think I'll be crafting a lot!! Or finding a whole bunch of new freebie sources!!

Stinkbug - love your quilt. What is the pattern? It's really effective as is your choice of fabrics - color and composition!! Whoever gets this is really lucky!!

The quilt is for my 12 year old grand daughter. The fabric sort of looks like a batik, but it's not. It's a *Quilt in a Day* pattern and is stupid easy! Took about 8 hours total to put the top together. Basically, I dumbed down the pattern even further by limiting the fabrics to three, plus borders. I am making one for each of my grandkids, same pattern, but with fabrics suited to each of them. I'm quilting them on a gammill that I rent at the local shop. Truthfully, this is one of my favorites I have ever made!

The pattern is called *Tossed Nine Patch*

~We don't observe any holidays so I'm just quilting as usual.
I'm still working on the t-quilt. All the rows are pieced and I have two rows joined.
I need to order more black cotton for the Dalmatian baby quilt.
And I need to start amassing and cutting corduroy squares for the denim circle quilt.~
