My treasure to work on was made by the "Burns Sisters" 2 very poor spinsters who made quilts from scraps to make money. Their work is beginner level and the fabrics were veryi thin. The best they could afford. Not much paper left on back after all. Soo I'll pull off every light piece of paper I can and save that, add a border and sandwich during Christmas. Pictures...my camera doesn't do it justice....but I'll try and try . They definitely had an eye for color and design, they would just run out of fabric and put in big blocks, but it's the history that makes this quilt so it will be treasured for sure. This will be the second quilt I've finished for my cousin that is old. It's mysterious how I feel when I work on this quilt, like time going back and I'm sitting with the Burn's sisters in their cold home sitting in front of a small coal burning stove,

    such a honor.....love it!

Everyone has been so busy! Such lovely quilts! I love the Quiltville site, I have a couple of her patterns cut out and in my to do pile! LOL I have way to many project started. I need more time in the day so I can sew! I have a quilt I'm almost done cutting out that is going to be a christmas gift, I'm going to work on that this weekend. It's a rail fence, I'd love to get all of the strips sewn this weekend... Happy quilting all!

How wonderful Vicki! Maybe the spirits of the Burns Sisters are with you while you work on their quilt. They probably just want to give you a hand in restoring it!

here are some pics of the wedding ring quilt I am working on. I didn't get it done before coming to Georgia but I showed pics to the kids and they love it. I have a few diamonds left to sew on and the edges to finish before I put it all together.
