I too am having trouble imagining the non-gathered yo yos vicki and it sounds like such a great idea! I can picture what you are saying exactly except for the yo yos not being gathered.

I wish you had a picture of it as well.

Love the quilt FF! I would have never thought of using yo yos like that.

cracker barrel quilt - yeah I should have taken a picture. That's why I upgraded my phone...duh me.....can't explain it....they were just ironed into shape....I would sew the edge of the yo yo and gather it. But instead of sewing yo yo to yo yo , you just sew across the yo yos onto a background fabric.

anyhoo......it's really easy. I'll get a picture next time I go....

I can't believe I'm actually thinking of cutting out the circles to use up the stash..........

FF - mahalo for posting the table runner - what an interesting use of yo-yos. Love how the intersecting yo-yos are a larger size than the rest - very creative.

vickilynn - how about if you just make a a sample swatch and then take a picture of that? Unless you go to Cracker Barrel more than I do (which is once per 4 years!!)

VL - I, too, am real curious about this.......and just CAN NOT get the picture.

Ran into another uncalculated problem with the blue and yellow but will keep at it. A bit more done today.

My sinuses are getting ready to kick me in the butt, I can tell. We are supposed to be getting snow and the weather pressure affects me! Wish it would just GET HERE and get it over with.

OK y'll are going to think I'm nuts, but after thinking about those circles, and estimating how many to make for a queen size bed, I said to myself, "Vickilynn, that is just too much time, you could make 2 or 3 quilts by the time you cut and sew those circles, so just erase that project from your mind!"

I live in a tourist area and we have 3 Cracker Barrels in the area, so I will go take a picture for you.......

BUT......I am still SUPER CURIOUS about this quilt so can't wait to see the pic.

Maybe you could make bigger circles??? Would that work?

Hey......post it on here......you know we will have opinions on how to 'help you out'........ No shortage of that here!!

My dh just asked why am I laughing........mm...I have to force myself to make knit swatches to test my gauge. I've never made a sample swatch for quilting...too lazy, too in a hurry, too lazy...it goes or it goes

....and a picture it will be then Vickilynn!! Glad you had a chuckle!! I never do sample either - I impressed that you calculated how many yo-yos there would be!!

I am the same VL........BUT....I can't tell you how many times I have gotten into trouble with that too........too much wasted time/effort to make sample!!! It adds to the challenge is what I tell myself!! (or my stupidity....is what I mutter!)

Sometimes I don't even have a pattern........just happen to like a block! That is why much of my posting will be about Plan b,c,d, and on and on.

Think I am on about plan D with this blue and yellow!!

FF - so what's plan D? Will you be able to finish this project before the end of the year?

Oh yeah! Just every time I make a change to the quilt I 'up' the letter........have made a few changes to this one. Got slowed down the last couple days as things weren't 'fitting' like I had hoped-or they should- so had to adjust........I am working from the CENTER OUT....which came about with plan B....so that throws a new KINK into getting things to 'line up' when and where they should.

But I am cranking along....... end of the year??? That is over a month away!! I hope to have this one done and the kalid. too AND MAYBE EVEN a good start on the attic window........AT THE VERY LEAST!

Had to laugh at THIS post girl.........I was downstairs yesterday thinking I should make a LIST of the things I need to finish (and maybe even post it here!).....sat down on the stool to start the list.......looked around at all the stuff THAT WAS SHOWING....and went......holy crap......and that wasn't the stuff that was in bags!!! I bagged that idea RIGHT AWAY! Why embarrass MYSELF??

then......have you ever sewn batik with other quilting cotton? Think I will post this separate.......so I might get an answer.
