Default My goal for 1 year....

is to not buy anymore, fabric, thread or batting!
As I was trying to clean my sewing room today, I realized how much quilting supplies that I have.
In my room right now, I have the following supplies:

~ 62 spools of machine cotton thread
~50 yards of Warm & White batting
    ~ 50 yards Warm & Natural batting

AS far as fabric, I probably have close to 400 yards!
This is yardage, fat quarters, fat eighths, scraps, etc.

I'm going to search through my patterns for scrap quilts and start getting busy making some quilts! These will become gifts for Xmas & birthdays.

    Anyone want to join me?

Oh I am so in with you! I have tons of fabric. I don't have much batting, so as I finish a quilt, I will need to buy batting. I plan on making table runners for gifts for Christmas so that will use up some of my scraps and such. The ONLY fabric I am going to buy is if I need something to finish a project. I have been doing this for the last few months and I have been sticking by it. I have a couple of projects in the works that I will need to buy some backing for, but that's it.

Good luck! I'm sewing right along with you!

    tervsforme,
Great! Glad you are joining me.
The reason I ended up with SO MUCH batting is, last year Joann's fabric had an online coupon for 50% off any item.
So, I bought a 50 yard roll of the Warm & White, BUT DH surprised me with another (2) 50 yard rolls of the Warm & Natural.
I have made many quilts this past year, and still have about 10 yards on my first roll that I opened. They go along way! But, I saved a ton of $$. I was in our local Hobby Lobby last month and saw the same stuff for over $9 a yard! We paid around $2.50/ yard with shipping!

I'm looking for ideas for Xmas gifts. I like the table runner idea!
I might do that for my MIL and sister.

I'm doing the same challenge, but I started in January. With the exception of batting and thread, I've been doing pretty well. It is really hard to stay out of the quilting store though!!

Going through all my supplies is like Christmas because I forgot that I had so much!!

    Have fun!!

~Those are so cute!! I love the pumpkins.
The challenge is such a good idea. I don't have as much as you do(I think I have about 60 yards of fabric which includes synthetics)but I do tend to collect clothes to recycle. It really helps to have a challenge to use stuff up! I think the Sewing Club did it last summer or Fall but only for a month.
As it is I'm kinda on buying restriction anyway. My local quilt shop has the worst selection of everything and is insanely overpriced. So I either have to drive an hour to Joanns or order online. My last fabric and notion trip was months ago.
I will be ordering some PUL for AIO diapers and cotton jersey for a baby wrap within the next month but otherwise I don't think I'll need anything for the remainder of 2010.
I would love to see your collection of fabric. It must be pretty awesome!~

I love to go to Goodwill and the garage sales to look for men's cotton shirts. You really can't find the plaids and checks in the fabric dept. and they play so well with any fabric.
I have about 40 shirts waiting for me to cut them apart at the seams. I put the backs in the same storage drawer as my fat quarters. I use the smaller pieces in my scrap quilting projects.

~Great idea! Years ago I was going to use men's flannel shirts to make a quilt I'd seen in Keepsake Quilting. All the plaids together and at different angles was just so great to look at and would be so cuddly! But I couldn't find any shirts under $3 a piece at the Salvation Army. I thought that was a crazy high price for used fabric.
I have more thrift options now(including some terrific yard sale sellers)so I should start searching again! Oh wait a minute, that would be buying supplies wouldn't it? ~

I need to go into my basement and look through all the material I have because that would make it easier to do this. Although I did buy mat'l to make a dress for ds's wedding. I don't buy and did not have any dressy mat'l. I've been pretty good at this so far this year; but the worse time of year for me purchasing mat'l is coming up.
