I've put the baby quilt up as part of the decorations for the shower and am using the preschoolers' quilts on top of white cloths for the present table.

Oh MM, it is beautiful! Did you hand tie it or hand stitch it? I am sure the mother will treasure it always!

Pretty quilt MM. The mother will love it.
I got the LC/kalid done, all except the border.......will put that on tomorrow..........then on to another......
Think I will look for yarn to tie one that I made last year.....the flannel one that was a 'faker' rail fence.
I am ready for a new quilt on my bed........and it has to be warm.
Also thinking about contacting a gal to quilt the heart one for me.....but not sure I am ready for a heart attack for the $!!!

was wondering how much people charge to machine quilt for others - those machines are expensive!! WTG FF on getting it done and, as always, will be looking forward to pictures!!

We have a quilt shop next door that does the machine quilting. You supply the backing and filling and a queen size quilt is $80 and a twin $65. I am not sure about other sizes. Their fabric is super expensive so I never shop there.

that is a good rate dc..........depending.........and also depending on how many 'patterns' they have to pick from. The 'feathers' are usually more.
But the kicker on that is 'defining' the size of double and etc.
MM........the going rate here is about 2 cents an inch........if you can find it for a penny you are doing good. Just saw an ad on CL and they said 1.5 cents...........that adds up.
I have only had two 'professionally' quilted.........and she did a beautiful job..........BUT.............it was over $100 for EACH and one was a SMALL DOUBLE.........posted a pic of it last year I think-it was the quilt that my aunt made for me..........with my fabric---the fan quilt.
Tervs said I could send it to her too..........but I want something 'specific' done and can't do that long distance. I think quilting in this area is expensive............the books/mags always quote cheaper.
I will just go in and talk to her......and since I sort of have 'an idea' on how I want it quilted (I know her machine is programmable for design----TALK ABOUT EXPENSIVE!!) I figure I will be in for a shock..........since I am specifying.
Yep.........top is done.........small and plain........but done. I counted the other LC's that I have..........think it was 70 and that is all in that fabric so will have to play with the LC design so it won't be so boring.

I will say that the gal that did my quilting LIKED to supply her own filling as she knew how it quilted.......and it wasn't a whole lot more PLUS then she didn't have to hassle with people bringing is this 'wrinkled' stuff to work with........she has hers on these enormous rolls.
PLUS............and you supplied the backing (natch) BUT when you picked it up and it ALL TRIMMED and squared up........AND READY FOR THE BINDING. Sure made is easy for me..........I messed up one top.....trying to square it up in my small area.

FF- My aunt was blind. She made the most incredible things, even sewed all of us girls a black velvet Christmas stocking that she embroidered detailed Christmas scenes on. Each one completely different then the others. Somehow she saw with her fingers. Years later they developed a surgical procedure and restored her eyesight.
Thanks for sharing, it brought back such wonderful memories of my Aunt.~~~

I haven't forgotten...........the quilt pic is still on my camera.
