Ok here is the CJ quilting posts....
combined. CJ I hope you do not mind but the info is being so spread out its hard to track down.
"Well after asking the question, the tutorial/course will start on January 2nd, 2003. I'm really excited about this and having so many wanting to participate.
Here is a list of what you will need. (I might add more later.)
- a cutting mat (18 x 24 is the best)
- rotary cutter
- 6 x 12 inch hard plastic ruler (Omnigard is the best I think)
I'll give you the amounts of the material in a few days and I'll post them to this thread.
Will take about 2 months to do this and then March I plan on doing a more advanced one with triangles which if you finish this one, you'll be able to do with NO problem.the best thing to do for the supplies of material is to make sure you have fat quarters that are contrasting and some that are like and dark. As to the sashing and backing, I always tell everyone not to purchase any until after the blocks are done because often when you do, you find out that you really don't like that particular material or it doesn't really go with the blocks you've made.
I'm not good at measuring material so if you have 10 fat quarters you'll do fine.
I'm going to be teaching 5 different patterns and each pattern will have its own tutorial and then when anyone has questions, they can start a new thread
Here are the sizes for quilt batting for quilts.
Crib - 45 x 60 inches
Twin - 72 x 90 inches
Double - 81 x 96 inches
Queen - 90 x 108 inches
King - 120 x 120 inches
I always cut my batting a bit wider than my quilt though.
For those wondering, here are the sizes of finished quilts.
With a 13 inch drop:
Crib 37 x 57 inches
Twin 63 x 93 inches
Double 81 x 96 inches
Queen 88 x 109 inches
King 98 x 109 inches
With a 21 inch drop:
Twin 79 x 101 inches
Double 79 x 104 inches
Queen 104 x 117 inches
King 114 x 117 inches
Here are the mattress sizes:
Crib 23 x 46 inches
Twin 39 x 74 inches
Double 54 x 75 inches
Queen 60 x 80 inches
King 72 x 84 inches"
Thats all of it so far I think.

I think CJ ought to make a completed post and sticky it to the top!
That way we won't lose track of it!
I remember the yellow one, and the 5 lght and 5 Dark but I can't find it yet.

Thanks for doing this Melissa!
We just need to know the amounts of material now.
I think I read somewhere 10 FQs (5 light and 5 dark)? And one should be yellow? Or was I dreaming?
Oh this is exciting.
