The one I got is a Fiskars brand. It came as a kit with the mat, ruler and cutter. The whole kit was about $45 but I had a coupon and got it for $22.50. I do not know if this is a good brand as I have never used one before. I am still trying to tell myself that I like it better than scissors.

I have an Olfa and I like it best of all that I've tried. Its the medium size one. You can purchase them at any quilting store.

I have tried a Dritz 45 mm and a Fiskars 45mm. I liked the Dritz the best.

I have tried them all and like this one the best.

I have the 45mm one. It is on sale at JoAnn's (online at least) now for $13.99.

Still confused - try this. Find a good quilting store and visit it. Ask to try out their rotary tools and if they are a good quilting store, they'll let you. You'll know the one you like the best just by the feel of it.

While there, ask questions of the ladies who are there. They'll be more than happy to tell you which they like the best and why.

Tip: Never purchase one just because its on sale or the cheaper one. It may look good and not be the one for you. Your rotary tool will become one of your best friends when quilting and you'll use it lots. Get the one thats best for you!!

Sew crafty - its funny, when I tried that one the other night at quilting class, I just couldn't get use to it and didn't feel comfortable with it at all. It just goes to show, that quilters are a diverse group!!! Just ask anyone which sewing machine to purchase and you'll get the same answers as this thread - ALL DIFFERENT!!!

Thanks CJ... I will do that. I have been using a friend of mine's board and tools but I have decided that it's time to get my own.

Thank you all again for all of your input.

I agree CJ, everyone is different. Good advice to try them out first. I choose this one because of my arthritis, especially when I am doing a lot of cutting. It is much easier on my hand.

I love my Friskars Rotary Cutter, I have small hands (LOL just about the only thing on me that is small but getting better )and it seems to fit just right without my hands craping trying to get a good grip. Like Cj said, I would go into a Quilting Store and do a test drive of theirs. The better ones will have no problem letting you try em out.
