I was reading http://www.mrsbunny.com/ when I seen this tip and thought I would post it here to see if anyone had seen this tip before and if not maybe it would be a great tip to put into motion. Hth, someone down the road.

SCRAP MATERIAL
Many factories that use material to make clothes or slipcovers give away their fabric scraps. There is a small factory near us that puts their scraps into trash bags and gives them away to anyone who calls and asks for them. The scraps are perfect for quiltmaking. One bag that I got had enough big strips of the same fabric that I plan to make a shower curtain by sewing the strips together.
Another factory near us makes canvas bags and gives away their scraps also. I plan to make patchwork canvas bags out of those scraps. Some factories have scraps of woolen fabric which are perfect for making braided rugs. The best way to find out what scraps are available in your area is to check out the yellow pages and call around.

Sounds like a great idea!

Too bad the only upholstery factory by us went out of business years ago. I say if you have any of these types of factories near you, it would be worth a phone call. Let us know what they say.
**EDITED**
You're right CJ, I was thinking all types of sewing! I'm not quite thinking like a quilter yet!

Thanks learning for the tip.
There are a couple of places in the city we use to live in, but they don't have any 100% cotton. I have seen some of their scraps though and if I was big into making dresses, etc. I sure would pick some up.
