Question Have you ever made a quilt soley out of old clothing?

Rather than with store bought fabric?

I think this would be really neat to do, especially if using clothing that had special meaning, like kids' outgrown clothing and things like that.

I never have, although I have hand quilted 2 of them for our music teacher.

It is something I would love to do in the future, but for now I'm having too much fun purchasing material.

The long range plan I have though is to find as many old aprons as I can and then do a quilt made up of old apron material.

I've done a jean quilt backed with a pieced flannel from old shirts.

Most of my quilting is done with old clothes. I buy 100% cotton shirts at the Salvation Army store for .25 each and cut them up for quilts.

I made a small quilted wall hanging for Lori and one for myself out of clothing. Our mother worked for the Salvation Army sorting clothes for the thrift store for many years and always wore a smock to work. She had so many so I cut small pieves to applique onto a wallhanging.
