    Default Quilting tip #1

Always remember to pick up any straight pins that you might have dropped on the floor.    You can cause serious injury if you should step on one.     To pick them up easily, have a small magnetic screwdriver handy in your sewing room/sewing area.   It does the trick really quickly, especially if the needle has fallen into a rug and you can't see it.     Just run the screwdriver over the rug and it will pick up the needle.

For those who don't know, a magnetic screwdriver is one that has a small magnet at the top.     I have one both in my sewing room and in the kitchen.

    Great tip CJ!

This is really important if you have small children or pets. Both of my sisters have had one of thier cats eat a needle/pin and had to have emergency surgery. Life threatening for them and very expensive for my sisters if only they had paid attention!
