Quilting tip #7
When trimming your backing and batting on your quilt, use scissors, NOT your rotrary tool, unless you keep the blade specifically for cutting batting. Nothing will dull your blade more that using it for the trimming of your quilt (with the batting there). (I keep a blade especially for cutting my batting - its kept in its own container and marked so I know thats what it is for.)
Place your quilt on a flat surface to trim, either on a clean floor or on your dining room table. Cut with scissors.
Your probably not going to want to do this though on the floor, if you have cats or dogs, especially if your quilt is a gift. You really don't want the "hair" of the animal on your newly made quilt.
