Smile Mystery quilt wallhanging #1 comments/questions thread

Ok who is doing this one?

I'm actually on the ball and have cut all that's been instructed so far.

    I'm doing shades of aqua/teal.

Chelle, I'm getting pictures developed today so will have more for this weekend. This really is a simple one and a fun one when its finished. Everyone is going to be blown away by the final outcome. I can't believe such a simple block can do what this does.

I'll be doing it! I have been so busy typing up the apron tutorial, I didn't even see that CJ started this one yet.

I went to the thread and wrote down what I need for materials, gotta check my stash to see what's in there before I go shopping.

I can't wait to see it. As usual I'm having trouble picking colors--but more so this time because I don't know what the finished product looks like, and I'm worried that I may not have enough contrast between a couple of my colors.

I'm doing it but I checked my fabric stash and just don't see anything that grabs me, so tomorrow I'll run by Joanns and pick up my fabric and get started. I'm doing the apron too so I may be a bit slow at this. I love the fact that the quilt is a surprize.

I finished the top today. It took me 4 hours to do it. I'm so pleased with this top, that I'm going to do more of this style of quilting and make a larger quilt or a larger wall hanging, but in a different design. It was so much fun to do.

Chelle, don't worry about the contrast. It will work out, I promise. The black does the trick.

I've started cutting mine out. I'm doing shades of green, some of which are fairly dark but I think it will still go great. For some reason though, my green thread has disappeared. Gotta get some today.

Pat don't worry about what color thread your using. Because this is a wall hanging, you won't see it. I used white on mine and it doesn't show anywhere. Even with using black, it doesn't show.

I would like to do this one, but I am soooo far behind. Will there be anything on this one that will trip me up if I haven't finished the sampler? If not, then I may go ahead and start this one and get back to the sampler later. Hmmm....

Melody, anyone should be able to do this one, even if you haven't done the sampler. If you need a bit of help, just look over the Log Cabin tutorial for the general idea. If you have any questions, just post them here.

    CJ
I'm having a brain freeze this week. I am going to print out the log cabin tutorial and see if it helps. I would ask you my question - but I'm not even sure what to ask. (Ever have one of those weeks).

Pat, I finished the instructions for the first block, and have a completed picture of those 6 blocks.

At what point in the tutorial are you stumped. I'll try to explain it.

Just remember, although its like the Log Cabin pattern, your only using one color with the black in these 6 blocks. These six blocks, your using only your light color and the black strips.

Ladies I'm sorry but I will be bowing out of this one for the time being. I have just too many things going on right now.
