    Unhappy So sad

My dh went to an auction and got several boxes of fabric, yarns, and threads for me (paid a total of $2 for all)

As I was sorting through it all last night-- I came across a quilt block that had a note pinned to it. The block is a Grandmothers flower garden block. The note said "my mother pieced this--- need to make a cushion of it for Orin or Candy"

I just thought that was so sad---- someone's loved one's handpieced work in a box and never finished.

My grandmother left a huge box of crocheted doily centers when she died. My mom kept them and worked on finishing the doilies over the years. As each of us grandchildren got married, my mom gave us a doily---- part from our grandmother, and part from her.

My grandmother was working on a needlepoint picture as a wedding gift for me when she died. When my grandfather remarried, his wonderful wife Hazel had a good friend finish the piece and gave it to Jeff and I as a wedding goft from my grandmother. Hazel and my grandmother had been friends before Grandma died and she knew howmuch that needlepoint ment to Grandma and how much it would mean to me.

What a touching piece that is. I love it when I go through old cook books gotten at a sale some where and see hand written notes on the side. I try them and think that the person who wrote that note is passing on their information to me. And we must have had the same kinds of likes, we both had/have the same cook book at one time or another.
