Another find from the auction
A completed Texas star--- just the star, not an entire quilt top. Now to figure out what to do with it.

That's a good idea, especially if it is old, that way the glass will protect it.
Great treasure Denise!

Denise, What a wonderful find. Why not make a quilt from it. You could find a wonderful backing and add your batting and quilt it for your bed. That is such an incredible pattern, what a shame that the quilter did not get a chance to finish it into a quilt, even more of a shame that no one in her family wanted that wonderful heirloom. It always makes me a little sad to go to an auction and see family treasures being auctioned off. I went to one and they were auctioning the ladies wedding rings off, it was an estate auction and the kids were doing it. I just wanted to kick them in the shin for selling their Mother's rings, rotten kids!

I'll have to see if I can find something to finish the top with--- and a pattern somewhere to tell me HOW to finish it--- I've never made a Texas star quilt.
It's pretty wrinkled right now--- but when I held it up it's points are more than my height!

Plain ol' muslin, washed in hot water and dried in a dryer should work great. You can use something else for the backing, if you want. Really large triangles of muslin, in between the points would be fine. If you want to make it longer or wider to fit your bed, then you can use a complementry. border color or two in long strips, along the outside edge. The really large triangles of muslin can be quilted in a flower or star pattern.
It's YOUR quilt now, finish it, the way YOU want...
If you're not comfortable with quilting yet, make it simple and learn as you go...
