    Default Need help with yardage....

How do you determine how much fabric you need for a quilt?

I'm thinking of doing a log cabin one about 4' x 5' and only in 2 different colors.

    TIA

I'm not sure. I usually measure as I go along. But I usually use scrapes and not new material. Maybe you could use your measurements and divide by the differant fabrics your going to use.

The width of the logs will also effect how much fabric you need.

    Leftover scraps or yardage?

Dee, what size are your strips going to be and how big of block are you going to make each block?

Thanks everyone, Chelle I just found that site late yesterday too!

Good thing I'm still in the planning stage as I usually just run out and buy fabric. It is going to be for my sister for Christmas. Her favorite color is lavender. I am going to re-think only using 2 colors and then use that chart to figure it out.

    Thanks again.
