Now I Need Some Help, Please
I'm back to working on the top I just finished. From what I could find at the library, I think it is called a postage stamp pattern. I'll just call it a postage stamp quilt to keep my quilts seperate.
I have the pale yellow fabric and I also have some dusty rose and I have lots of pale blue(kinda gray).
I have decided to do a 3" border in yellow and a 3" border of pale blue and use the dusty rose for the binding and the pale blue for the backing as I have gobs of it and....I like it, lol.
Does that sound right? Or should I make one of the borders bigger than the other? This is where I decide how big I want my quilt right? Should I just quit worrying about it and just cut? LOL
Here is another question. I know it is ok to piece the binding but, is it ok to piece the border? I have enough fabric not to have to piece it but I would have to cut off of the length to do the sides. The top and bottom I can just cut from the width.
Does that make since? I'm just trying to figure out the best way to save on fabric because I have another smaller project I want to do and that was all of that particular color of yellow that Walmart had.
Thanks for any help.

I just read where CJ posted on Michelle's post about Dave's quilt. I like the advice you gave her CJ so I'm going to go see what that would look like.

Yes you can piece the border and the binding. If you piece the border, just make sure you try to make it even on both sides, kwim. (eg. you'd have 2 pieces of border for each side and you'd have the seam in the middle of the border, rather than a piece added on at the top). Hope that explains it.
Another way to do it is if you don't have enough but almost enough, then you can make a block at each corner. That way, you'd have a block, a strip, a block on the top, bottom and the exact same thing for the sides.
To make it even more complicated but it really isn't, is instead of piecing the border in a couple pieces, do exactly as I told you in the above paragraph with a block in the middle of the border and at each top.
Just a couple other ways to do it if you don't want to piece the border.
Can't wait to see how it looks when its done.

Thank you CJ. I would have never thought of doing the block piecing. That sound like a neat idea.
