Quilters PLEASE NOTE!!
I just finished a mini tutorial of the "fabric frolic" block. I plan on doing a block tutorial each week for the next year.
If you make this block, please post it here in this thread so that once the tutorials are transferred over to the tutorial section on the homepage of the village, your pictures can go with the tutorial.
Have fun. If you have any questions in regards to this block, please don't hesitate to ask in this thread.

I watched the whole thing take shape!!!! I'm excited about this one!
I've got my fabric & as soon as I get back from the kids-to-work drop, I'm starting mine...
Finally, a pattern that I think even I can do!!

Yup Debbie, its a very simple one but its lots of fun. I've made 2 already and plan on making more. I plan on making a couple for charity.
The neat thing about it is you use up so many scraps and each block is divided by the strips when sewn together. I think I have a thread here on how the quilt turns out. Instead of looking I just took a picture. Its a little dark because its really dark outside right now, but you get the general idea. This quilt is Michael's and is twin size.

Chelle, yes. I was just looking at the material today in fact and will try to get it done within the next couple days. Now that I have my digital camera its so much easier to get it finished.

It's beautiful. I really like how that turned out.

Carolyn, some of my blocks are the same. I just used scraps that I had here. I'm doing one now with all ugly fat quarters.
Its going to be donated to charity.
tip - if you make some of your blocks the same, just make sure when your putting the quilts together, they don't go next o each other. Otherwise, its fine.
I love scrappy quilts and blocks that are easy to make and sew up. What I do is cut all the 5 inch blocks, all the 4 inch blocks and then cut my 4 inch blocks corner to corner. They are all ready then to sew. Next I do the 5 inch blocks and the first 2 triangles until I'm finished. Then I press all of them. Then once thats done I do the last 2 triangles, then press. I find that way I can work in time slots (10 minutes here, 20 mins. there, kwim).
tip #2 - this is a good way to use up fat quarters you don't particularly like or may ugly fq you've gotten from swaps.
tip #3 - if you use animal prints or printed material with things on the material, it doesn't matter which way you sew the block because when your quilt is finished, it can be used either way lengthwise. I love those types of quilts, especially when the kids are making the beds. It doesn't matter which end is which.

Great quilt. I will have to get back into quilting now that I've seen this one. I've been lazy all summer but cooler weather will be here soon and I'll want to quilt.

CJ, I can't tell by the picture but did you hand quilt it? If so, what method did you use?
Also, I love how you did the border. Will you be explaining how you did it? It just really sets off the blocks. It looks like 2--3" squares sewn together in a "light/dark" pattern, is that right?
And my last question for now, lol, how much material does it take to the 1" strips for a twin size quilt?
Thanks, Carolyn

CJ, I'm never going to be able to do this.
I was so excited, I thought I could do this one...
I can't do it...
I'm sending the fabric back for the other quilt block too - It would be a huge black mark on the winner's finished quilt.
I need a mat I guess, I can't get my blocks square using scissors.
I'm sorry I'm such a screw up that I can't even get a spoon-fed, step-by-step tutorial to work.
You're such a great quilter & such a good teacher, I just can't get it.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Carolyn, great job. I'll post tomorrow how I did the border.
Debbie, if you cut a piece of cardboard that is 6 3/4 inches square and put it around your block, you could trim it to make it 6 3/4 inches. It really is much easier though if you have a cutting mat, rotary tool and a acrylic ruler.

Debbie, do you or your dh have one of those utility/razor blade knives? I used to use one alot to cut stuff before I got the rotary knife. If you put you fabric on heavy cardboard and put another piece that is cut to the pattern size and lay it on top of the fabric, it should cut nicely. Try it on a scrap first.
Just an idea.
