Thumbs up QUILTING TIP - No. 23 (I think)

Want to do some quilting for charity, but feel you don't have time or finances to make a full quilt. One way to solve this - find a quilting store near you and ask if they are doing charity quilts. Many quilting stores do. Ask if they have any pre-packaged blocks that you can sew for them. If you feel you can only do one, only take one.

My regular quilting store in Winnipeg have been making charity quilts for years for Breast cancer patients. You can go in and pick up one or several packets, bring them home, sew them up and return the finished block. The material is all pre-cut and it only takes a minute or two to sew them up. Most charity quilts are done in simple block patterns.

Try it, you might get addicted. I brought home 10 packets yesterday.

Our town is doing Charity Quilts for cancer patients too. I haven't been brave enough to sign up yet but I hope to someday when I feel more comfortable with my quilting skills.

The group even has a large sewing circle where they all meet at a Casino conference/all purpose room on a certain day every few weeks and you bring your own sewing machine and they do several quilts in a day. It really sounds like fun and a way to get to know other quilters plus doing a good deed at the same time.
