I leaned to sew in high school(long time ago)

then when I started to quilt (about 2 years ago) I learned on the internet, books and then I started with a preprinted quilt top to get the hang of it. Then I did a easy block and did a baby quilt. Then an easy block and did some thow size quilts.

Now I think I am ready for harder blocks so I am doing one of the Joann fabric store kits. After this I will try one on my own.

Just a step at a time like anything else.

Default How did everyone learn to quilt?

I would love to learn how to quilt. I dont know anyone that could help me so I guess I would have to learn on my own. I am still trying to get the hang of sewing so this is still in the future. I was curious as to how all of you learned!

Im a self taught quilter myself. I just picked up a quilting magazine, and went for it. Now, I will say, its a heck of alot harder then it looks. But, I am managing. A really great book to get is YOUR FIRST QUILT BOOK (or it should be) by carol doak. Its wonderful. I highly reccomend it.

I learned from the Internet (mostly at a great quilting forum at another message board of which I'm no longer a member) and from books. I'm a member of our local quilting guild as well, and that helps.

I'm learning through internet sites. I have a very good one that has online beginner instructions and a forum to help with questions. If anyone would like it please pm me.
