A story I think you'll appreciate
The lily has been a special flower between my daughter and me. Her name is Lindsey and L I L Y stands for Lindsey I Love You.
Since my leaving my husband things are rocky between me and my kids to say the least. A thought came to me that maybe if I crafted a lily whether its cross stitch or quilted doesn't matter, I just want to craft a reminder for her. I began searching. I mentioned it to customers and friends that I knew quilted about my search.
One woman, weeks later, brought me in an old quilt pattern book with The North Carolina Lily Quilt pattern. How sweet she was to remember me and do that. I copied the pattern but it's just not quite what I was looking for but I'll keep it if nothing else comes up.
I also found a beautiful daylily Counted cross stich picture pattern. I bought all necessary color threads and aida cloth, but it's still not exactly what I want.
This was all in I'd say September/October. Just still not sure.
Last week out of the blue the woman that brought the book called me at work, from Florida of all places, to ask my mailing address. She said she had something to send me. I don't know this woman aside from serving her at the window at work and occasional quilting conversations. I'm far from a pro, but I've pieced a couple quilts.
I got in the mail a pattern she sent to me with a note that says:
Ruth,
I was really pleased to find this quilt pattern and knew immediately that it needed to be in your hands,
Enjoy!
Joanne
The pattern is from Pine Tree Lodge designs and it's called Lilies in the field. It is PERFECT! I'm going to make a lap size for her wall. This is why I was waiting.
Wasn't that the sweetest thing for her to do!?!?!
