My first crazy quilt and frugal too
Here is the project I worked on all day yesterday. Its a wall hanging and didn't cost me anything except my time. The material was all given to me, the lace was from 2 friends. The beads and some buttons are from dd's collection and some of the buttons were from my collection (from old clothes). The doily was from Dee (a small one I cut in half) and the little squares are a cut up napkin a friend sent me a long time ago. It had a pretty blue flower on it and worked perfect for this hanging. Its my first crazy quilt, definitely not my last.
In the picture you can quite see the top because I wanted to be able to show the colors. Its all done in blues and a bit of whites.
I'll post two pictures.

How neat. You did a great job. I like that it only cost you your time too. Very pretty.

Dee on a crazy quilt, you can use:
hankies
ribbon (this one called for it, I didn't have ribbon)
ribbon flowers
buttons
fancy pins (I used fancy buttons and broke off the back where you sew them. I used glue to put them on)
lace
doilies
Also you really should do embroidery stitches by hand. Instead I used my sewing machine's fancy stitches. Next time I'll use a varigated thread so the stitches show up a bit more. I have so many on my machine and have never used any of them before. It goes so much quicker using your machine.
Now what I plan on doing is watching for lace, buttons and ribbon at yard sales. I also plan on seeing what I can find in clothing at thrift stores especially when it comes to bag sales.

What I always loved about crazy quilts is you could let you imagination run wild, and never see 2 alike.
They were my favorites at fairs and quilt shows.
Editing because I lost my train of thought.
Very beautiful CJ....
