    Default Ironing Squares?

Why do they say to iron the 1/4 seams the same way unstead of flatten down each way?
    Hope you understand my question...

Because it gives it a stronger seam because there is less stress on the seam. Its also quicker. You'll also find that ironing the same way makes it easier to "fit" the seams into place when your joining pieces together.

    Thanks CJ,
I have read it a couple places but they never really explained why.

Holly, that is one thing I had a very hard time with when I first started quilting. I was a sewer first and was always taught to press my seams open. I don't have a problem matching up seams when they are open, it is easier for me. But I do it the correct way, to one side now, and it got easier each time.

I haven't sewed since Home EC in 7th grade do that part will work for me. ( Gosh that was eons ago )
I hope to get some of the cutting tools and board this month.
I'm asking for a cutting table for Christmas.
If I can get that I may try to make a couple quilts for Christmas or Birthdays..... First couple will be practice just for extra warmth here this cold winter....
