Default How very cool is this? Article and picture of quilt my GGGGM helped make.

Ascha Bancroft Moe was my great, great, great grandmother. My grandmother was Lucy Wood, and I'm sure you can see where the name comes from....

My brother found this information as he has been spending most of his time working on geneaology. I am very glad the quilt has been preserved, just sad it is so far out of family hands (to the best of my knowledge, nobody in the family lives anywhere near Nebraska and will be able to see it.) I do believe it is in safer hands there, though, and this way it is part of American history. I actually have one star that my great grandmother (Ascha's granddaugher) made to put in a quilt, and although it is being cared for, I have always meant to quilt it ino a square for display (though it is pobably safer tucked away from the light.)

And PS, I don't actually know those people in the article, even though they are apparently relatives. I'm sure my brother will be contacting them for info.

What a great story, Kimber. I did my family history a few years ago. It's a fascinating subject. I found my great great granny listed in the book of Australian women pioneers. The earliest of my ancestors came out on the second fleet.

Your family quilt is beautiful. I love stories like this. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks- I thought it was really neat. My brother has contacted the museum to see if we can get pictures of the family Bible contents. I wish we could get better pictures of the quilt. It is so unusual to see that brigt piece down in the lower right corner....

That's very interesting and the quilt is beautiful. I'm sorry it isn't with your family, but it's great that it's preserved.

My brother contacted the researcher and she has been kind enough to send along pictures.

Ascha (Axie) is the moter, and the baby is Lucy Moe.
