    Question Another Quilt Size Question.

I'm making a quilt for an online friend's son for Christmas. I have used up 4 yards of fabric and my finished top is 66" x 73". It is 6" squares of black and red (requested). From what I could find this quilt with a small border would be about a twin size. I'm not willing to go buy more of the same fabric if it is even available cause I can't put anymore into it. I'm "gifting" this quilt and all the friend has to do is pay for the shipping to NY.

So, I have some more black and I have some red checked gigham. I was thinking of making some black border about 4 inches and using about 2 inches of the red checked gigham for a border as well. Oh, the red blocks are not solid red. They have tiny stars in yellow, blue, green, black and white.

So all together my unfinished quilt would be about 72" x 81". I would add about 1" for the binding. Does this sound like a normal size quilt? It would be about the a twin size, right? It needs to be small enough to be washed in a washing machine often according to the Mom. If I make it too big then they can't wash it in the washing machine.

BTW, the backing will be an acrylic red satin sheet (also requested) which I had here in the yard sale stuff and I'm also donating the batting which I already had.

I'm just going to tie it instead of quilting it. Does anyone have a good quilt sizing chart that you use or could give me because I don't think the one I'm using is accurate.

Thanks for any help. I got the top done today so I want to get this done this week or next so I can mail it out to NY.
