Thumbs up A year in Batik's club

Just after Christmas, I joined this club. I've always wanted to learn to work in batiks and this was a great opportunity to do so.
It is one Sat. a month. Each Sat, we get to pick Batiks of our own choosing, enough to make 2-3 pieced or appliqued blocks. For the hour we are there, they show us how to piece the block together. We then go home and work on the blocks for the rest of the month.

I'm so looking forward to learning how to use batiks properly and using lots of colors. The quilt will be a queen size quilt and is awesome when done.

Anyone else like working with Batiks?

I'm sure this will be a pretty quilt. I've never worked with batiks.

I went to my first class yesterday. This is going to be a real challenge because they want us to work in colors we've never used before.

I'm also learning some new things so has I do I'll post them here for anyone interested in working with batiks. Once I get my computer working properly, I'll post pictures too.

    Tip:

When working with batiks, use a 70 needle. Anything higher makes the needle holes too large. You can really notice the difference between using a 70 or an 80.

Good tip CJ, and can't wait to see what you post concerning Baticks. I look at them and drool in JoAnn's and don't have a clue what to do with them, so generally leave them there. LOL

Dee, the quilt we are making is absolutely STUNNING!!! I've worked with batiks a little bit, nothing like this.

Its going to be a real stretch for me, especially when it comes to colors.

The really neat thing about batiks is you don't need to wash them before using them and they cut so nicely. Totally different than cottons for sure.

Dee I've gotten 2 blocks done so far. I'm hoping to post pictures once I can figure out how to get my computer working right. Now I have to wait until March 4th before I can make anymore, thats the hard part of this. It is the first Sat. of every month. BOM's are so hard for that very reason.

I want to get the quilt finished like yesterday, kwim.

Oh my, how do you stand the waiting? I would go bonkers!

Then again if and when I get into my sewing room, you may not see me for days on end!

Hope you can get your computer working so you can post pics soon.
