Talking Beginning a frugal quilt project

While on a cleaning rampage I got inspired. I found some blue jeans of mine...way too small. and i found a huge piece of red courdouroy. So out of these I cut 5.5 " squares. The jeans yeilded 60 of them, the courdouroy yeilded 42. In each of three fabrics I need 55 squares. I am looking through everythign for some white flannel. I will need to pick up some batting. And from this I am making a heavy duty quilt for DH. Since quilting the jean part will be tough I am thinking of tying it. but haven't decided yet. i'll post pics as I get going on it.

I am going to price some flannel while I am out and about today. I need some red to make up for the shortfall of the courdouroy, and i need some for the white I plan on using, can't find any in the house. It won't be a big deal really. I plan on quilting the flannel, leaving the courdouroy alone and tying the blue jeans parts. Gotta price a better quality hoop today while I am out too

It sounds like a great quilt. I can't wait to see the picture when you get finished. Your DH will love snuggling up under it.

Sounds great Missy! I'm doing something similar with jean squares, but I'm making new covers for my futon.

Here's the update. I have it all together. I have tied all the denim squares and will quilt all the white flannel squares. I didn't have enough red courdouroy, so I got some red/white stripe canvas fabric. It's a sensory stimulating quilt. Lots of bright colors, variety of shades, textures. DH likes it and has been cuddling under it...even though it's not all the way finished yet.

Great job Missy! I love it. You are quick, I have quilts that I have been working on for literally years that are not finishes and here you are almost done in a week. I am going to aspire to be more like you.

Great job Missy! It very pretty and I'm sure dh will love the finished product. It's so nice when you just get "inspired" to do a quilt. It makes it so much more fun and it really goes faster. You're helper is a real cutie!
