Quilted clothing?
The other day when I was in the quilting store, I noticed a quilted vest (rag type pattern) and fell in love with it. Has anyone made quilted clothing, particulary a rag type vest.
Kathy mentioned in another thread that rag quilts are hard on the washer and dryer. I'm wondering if quilted clothing would be the same?

No but an old issue of threads had a really neat thing where they quilted 3 or 4 layers of ordinary woven material together, then made up the item using this. No padding, just the layers.
Then they slashed the top 2 or 3 layers and washed it so that it frayed outwards, revealing the layers of colour from inside.
If you like I could maybe try and get a photocopy to you CJ, just pm me if you want.

I've done three vests (applique) and about 3 patchwork skirts. I need to get pictures of those up on my webshots.

A few years ago, I had used up some left over quilting squares(sewn together) to make colorful linings for my 3 teenaged dds denim vests. They turned out really cute. They weren't hard on the washer & dryer.
