    Talking my sweatshirt quilt

finally got the two large pieces together & all the seam allowances sewed down.  Last night I pinned it & got one row quilted.  It ended up being 84in x 96 in.  Whew!  Maybe  a month of quilting & I'll show you a finished product!!!

    WTG Jamee! Very nice job!

Is it for anyone in particular? Did you purchase the sweatshirt fleece or use old sweatshirts?

    Wow, that's awesome! Great job

Did you do anything to the sweatshirt fabric to keep it from stretching?

It's all recycled sweatshirts. Some really old, some practically new. I just started this project because I ws getting carpet in my upstairs & I was stuck downstairs & bored....so I just started cutting. This was many yers ago, though, as I hadn"t worked on it for a couple of years....it was just packed away in a box.

Since I joined FV quilting club, I dug it out & started working on it again.

The fabric hasn't stretched for me...I'm doing it all by hand. It is quite heavy, though....I guess since it's hand-pieced, it's always on my lap & it doesn't seem to stretch. We'll see though, as I quilt it.

I had to sew down the seam allowances so that it would be thinner for quilting...that's what I've been working on for quite awhile.

There's no rhyme or reason behind it...I just made sure 2 of the same didn't directly touch...other than that, I just threw it together.

thank you Angela, but you'll never convince me that it's pretty.
I think it's just about the ugliest quilt I've ever seen. Dh likes it though & it's *really* warm.

I did put a safety pin in every block, and then some, to keep it stable while I quilt it.
Also, I used all sorts of thread I had lying around, so not all the thread is the same....some white, orange, red, girlscout brownie brown, etc. Just whatever I had.

I am in such awe of you doing that all by hand and such tiny hand stitches too!
Wish I could hand sew that well.
