Thumbs up Working steadily at getting my quilting material organized.

I've been working steadily at getting my quilting material organized especially when it comes to smaller size pieces and scraps. I've now cut some smaller pieces into different size squares along with some of the scrap pieces into strips. It's all starting to come together.

How are you organizing your fabric scraps? I always save everything but there's got to br a better way! You said you cut squares and strips, how do you store them? Also what sizes are you cutting? TIA

I'm cutting them into 2 1/2, 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 inch squares. I keep them in plastic Ziplock bags. On the bag I mark in black marker the size of the squares.

I also have different size strips cuts. Those that I'll be using in a Log Cabin quilt, I cut into 1 1/2 inch strips and keep the lights/darks seperate. I also keep the longer strips seperate from the shorter ones.

I find this so easy because when I have a few mins. here and there I have everything cut.

Also if I found a pattern I like to do, I cut everything first, place it in a large ziplock bag and whenever I have time, I can work on that quilt .

LOL I need to be that organized! Right now I have all my scraps, both knit (from sewing clothing) in totes.

I have most of mine sorted by color. Reds together, blues together. I have types of fabric sorts like the Civil War repros together and the 30s fabric together. I have all my flannels together. I have 3 18-gallon containers full of fabric. I have the fabrics for garment sewing in their own container. I am in the process of reorganizing my sewing room. Currently it is in a mess.
